Important – you’re about to reserve a place on a course that is officially FULL
Americana includes a broad range of roots music styles from across the pond: Rock, Folk, Country, Blues, Bluegrass, and everything in between. Its styles and techniques include:
We’ll have a Bass Day running at the same time as this guitar weekend and no doubt there’ll be some intermixing in the evenings. Check it our here.
There’s a bit of everything in Americana guitar and so there’s something for everyone. We’ll be covering the techniques and touching on the know-how behind things but the weekend is mainly about playing some great songs and a fun time (culminating with a ‘specicial performance’ on the Sunday.
Friday and Saturday are pretty much the same as our other weekend courses i.e. learning songs, delving into techniques and know-how, evening jamming and lots of playing.
On the Sunday things will be different – it’s all about performing and jamming BUT with a professional rhythm section (rhythm guitar, bass and drums) to keep things tight and groovy.
But we’re also offering a great opportunity to play along with a professional rhythm section (rhythm guitar, bass and drums).
Alongside the Americana Guitar Jamboree we’ll have another totally separate course called Bass Day running. The two groups will join together on the Sunday – read on!
So this Jamboree weekend is split into two stages:
Friday and Saturday are pretty much the same as our other weekend courses i.e. learning songs, delving into techniques and know-how, evening jamming and lots of playing.
On the Sunday things will be different – it’s all about performing and jamming BUT with a professional rhythm section (rhythm guitar, bass and drums) to keep things tight and groovy.
Solo slots, impromptu duets and bands (probably based on song projects covered over the weekend – but not necessarily). Players will be able to perform any songs they’d like to play (i.e. not limited to Americana. Heads-up – we’d need to some advance notice of what these songs would be). The band would offer advice and guidance on the performance and suggestions as to how to improve things and, assuming we have the time, you’ll probably have the opportunity to repeat the performance. As indicated earlier, the guitar players will join forces with the bass players for these Sunday performances.
By the end of the course, you should have the tools and understanding to play and perform some cool Blues songs and tunes; and feel more comfortable performing them!
Note You’ll be learning and playing as part of a group of diverse players; our tutor might therefore decide to tweak things to fit the group’s overall playing level and combined aspirations.
Acoustic and/or electric low-intermediate-and-above guitar players.
If you can play most open chords, have started to tackle basic barre chords and can change between them reasonably easily whilst strumming (ideally with a plectrum) then you should be fine.
There are a number of ways of attending our courses: residential, non-residential and sharing with a spouse/partner.
Our price for players is all-inclusive:
Our prices for following are also available:
Our weekend courses are teaching/playing guitar-fests but they’re paced to suit the group so they’re as much about having fun and enjoying a sociable time with fellow hobby players.
Playing together as a group is the best, and most enjoyable, way of learning and experiencing music. The courses have limited numbers to ensure the correct tutor-to-group ratio – book early to avoid disappointment.
Make a weekend of it!
