What we’ll be covering
These sessions are FREE and on the first Thursday of the month.
They’re open to everyone: bass players, guitarists and music lovers alike. Come along and join in. They’re planned in for the first Thursday every month.
They cover a wide range of subjects which are primarily driven by the group with our tutor, Keith Peberdy, managing the compass heading. BTW, check out Keith’s short video introduction to your left. Subjects have previously included:
- Insights into learning and practising bass
- Keith’s take on the role of the bass
- How he teaches in the various course formats we run
- Topical points of interest
- Understanding music
- How and what to listen to
- Exploring genres and styles
- Gear issues
- The fundamentals: fretboard, basic scales, arpeggios and chord tones, knowing chord progressions
- Keith’s golden rules!
- Clinic – listen to and try to resolve your bass-playing problems (BTW, if you want your bass to be heard clearly you should use an audio interface as well as have Original Sound switched on in Zoom – email us for advice)
- And a whole lot more
- Getting your suggestions for courses: technique-based, songs, artists, music ‘theory’, tricks of the trade, classic bass lines you must know, etc.
When live in the session you can ask a question or offer a suggestion by:
- Unmuting and just asking there and then, or
- Use the Chat facility, or
- Email them through to us before the session.
See the sidebar for the schedule of hangs.
Who’s this session suitable for?
Anyone is welcome to join the session; bass and guitar players alike.
Joining in
Book in below for FREE and we’ll send you a Zoom link by email. Click on the link to join.
These are Zoom sessions and so you’ll need the appropriate version of Zoom for your device e.g. Windows or Apple/IOS. Go to https://zoom.us/download. Any problems, drop me an email.
Best advice:
- Check your Zoom app works properly by signing in to Zoom and starting a New Meeting for just yourself. Check your mic, camera and speakers all work by using hte mic and video icons at the bottom of your screen.
- You’ll join with your mic and camera automatically disabled. You can keep these setting and just listen in or unmute to ask a question and enable your video if you’d like.
- If you have an Original Sound for Musicians button, switch this on.
- Join in about 5 mins before the scheduled start time. You’ll be put into a Waiting Room until the session is opened.
- If you can watch Youtube on the device you’ll be using then you’ll be fine.
- As mentioned earlier, if you intend to play during the session it’s best to use an audio interface for your bass.
