This course covers a lot of ground:
Chords – moving from the usual suspects (down at the nut-end) up the neck including barre, partial and a mix of open strings and fretted notes. A little practical theory really helps to to develop this approach.
Rhythm and groove – we’ll be using some classic songs to demonstrate these. More information to follow.
Licks and riffs – these come from related scales to the key of the song. We’ll look at the scales available and how to create simple and accessible riffs and licks that fit the song.
Putting it all together – mixing licks and riffs into a cool sounding chord progression which has a real groove can make you sound like a pro.
Techniques – plectrum and fingerstyle, strumming, dynamics, legato, vibrato, bending, muting, etc. There’s a feast of techniques to explore and you’ll pick up a ton of new tunes to add to your repertoire as well as looking at gear set-up to get the right tone.
And finally – we’ll layer the course i.e. starting with the basics and slowing adding in more complex structures. It’ll cover a little bit of theory but it’s all about playing cool guitar and starting to sound like a pro.
We encourage most levels of acoustic and electric guitarists to come along; it’s definitely not for a Beginner. Average-and-above players who have a few songs under their belt, can play most open chords and have attempted barre chords should be fine for the course.
Any hand-outs will be provided during the course we’ll make available all supplementary PDFs, copies of flip chart diagrams, any audio and video recordings.
If you are interested in B&B before, or after the course, get in contact and we’ll send you some details. Lunch and dinner can be purchased from the menu.
Unlike our online sessions these Day-Only courses can only accommodate limited group numbers – book early to avoid disappointment.
