This is our 5th mini series (comprising four sessions). Its focus is exploring the knowledge, techniques and approaches to arranging or writing songs. We’ll start at the very beginning and gradually build things up providing a structure for beginners to more experienced players to tweak existing songs and help forge new ones.
In this session we’ll be looking at the wealth of chords available to us outside of the standard diatonic chords (and their associated scales).

This 5th series dives into the how of arranging and/or composing tunes/songs.
The aim is equip players of all levels with the tools, knowledge and guidance to tweak the songs they already play to give them emotion and that ‘little something’ rather than standard progressions and predictable melodies. It all culminates in a Seasonal Special in the final session of the series.

We’ll be examining the wealth of chords which are available to us outside of the standard diatonic set. All of these chords come from related scales and together form the ‘palette’ for building and colouring a tune.
The palette is foundational; add some imagination and taste and hey presto you’ll have a top ten hit!
It’s always best to attend live rather than just buying the materials. But the option for Materials-Only is there for those occasions when you just can’t make it.
This mini-course of 4 sessions is a sequential series, so you will get much more out of it by committing to all 4 sessions (recommended as it comes with a 25% discount).

High beginner to intermediate players. Even players who are relatively new to the guitar will get some great ideas and approaches from the sessions. It’s handy to have tried fingerpicking.
The session is approx. 60 minutes long; don’t expect to master everything during the session. The tutor will go through all the key parts, demonstrating them and discussing the associated techniques and know-how.
The real work is done by you afterwards. Armed with the materials (PDFs, backing tracks and video recording), you’ll have all the tools to work on things at your own pace.
