You've got a Friend

Learn an arrangement of James Taylor’s classic song, You’ve got a Friend.

It’s a solo arrangement where we learn the beautiful melody with a smooth nut-end chord progressions underpinning it with lazy-feel fingerpicking pattern throughout.

This is a should-know in anyone’s repertoire.

What will we be covering?

Learn a solo arrangement of Carole King’s You’ve got a Friend as played by James Taylor.

Lots of easy chords in this one with a beautiful melody line (and moving lyrics). It’s in the key of G using ‘cowboy’ chords – in other words, basic chords.

No doubt bass line lins, triads, som echord embellishmnets, double stops and other tools will come into play but it’s really about the feel of the song. Play it as a standalone performance piece or use bits to accompany a singer.

This is a fantastic piece to learn hone your fingerpicking and chord inversions, bass lines,
